Smart Cities at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago

SAIC visiting professor George Aye emailed me in February 2011 after seeing my original bike crash map asking if I would speak to his class about crashes, and intersection design and safety. His idea changed and instead in March 2011 I critiqued the class's ideas and designs for an intersection well-known to many Chicago bicyclists: Milwaukee-North-Damen. The project had two parts: intersection and street designs and improvements, and better crash investigation.

I returned in May 2011 to pay attention to their refined and updated plan for the intersection. They also upgraded their 3D model to include lighted animation projected onto it.
